marhaaban ya marhaaban

Marhaban often play a part in many malay weddings.
As it represent 'welcome' to the new bride/groom,
it may also signify a new chapter in one's life.

what all newlyweds have to go through sooner is no more as a single-minded person,
'me' has become 'us', 'uno' has become 'dos', lone has become companion..

to all newlyweds,
marhabaan ya marhabaan!
welcome to the new beginning.

This fp began 2 years ago..
It is a way for me to share/learn what i've seen thru my lens during those period w fellow fpagers.
I could only agree when a friend said; "photos are meant to be shared"
and 'me' am looking forward to sharing more captures in coming years.
2006 would be an eventful year for me.
Hope i cud take the opportunity to capture those moment and share w everybody.

As a closure to 2005, this is my experimental nite shot (my first!!) w fellow photographers.
my credit to Azli - for inviting me along w him and got to learn new techniques.
and credit to ciklan - for being such a good host! and of course for all the tips and advice to another
amateur photo'shooter'..

and to the rest, happy new year.

out of curiousity

the feet havent reach a thousand steps..
neither the lips could utter a thousand words.
yet the world has open for him to explore;
thru his intuition, instinct and curiousity.

and it's all about learning..
experiencing..
and understanding.

i must admit. My hand ain't steady. At ISO 200 w/o flash, indoor picture, my compensation rate between shutter and aperture isnt too good!

Kich: you were saying higher ISO? how's that help in low light conditioN? Kindly explain. tq

moque, when you make exposures, there are three things to consider: shutterspeed, aperture, and iso. the former two, i think you understand. so that leaves only iso to explain. iso is basically the sensitivity of the media that is capturing the image. the lower the number, the lower the sensitivity. higher sensitivity basically means just a little bit of light is sufficient for the media to capture the image. this idea was transposed from film photography to digital photography, and it works in very much the same way.

so, with indoor photography, obviously there's not as much light, ie low light conditions. by raising the iso, you're increasing the sensitivity of the ccd towards light. when this happens, you don't need as much light to get the image, as i said previously. so, the shutterspeed can be really fast. a fast shutterspeed will help to reduce the shaking that can occur from your hands, mirror inside the camera, and/or the curtains.

apart from getting detail, underexposure can also help a bit in this shake reduction, because you'll be using a higher shutterspeed to capture the image.

by the way, speeds below 1/30 seconds will require the use of a tripod, as a rule of thumb. another useful guideline that is often used is to use the focal length of the lens, ie if the focal length is 50mm (standard lens), 1/50 is the minimal speed you can use for handheld shots.

hope that helps.

seems like your settings are okay. iso 200 should give you sharp pictures. perhaps the issue may lie in the software that you're using to resize the original picture. i know that picasa doesn't have a resizing tool, strangely enough. what i'm using is photocleaner to resize, add a caption (usually my copyright) and a border around the image as well. it hasn't disappointed so far.

another thing, jpeg is a lossy format, which basically means that you will progressively lose detail as you make numerous changes, accompanied by numerous file saves. so, you might want to save a copy of the original as a tiff or psd file, as these are lossless formats.

however, with picasa, the changes that you make to the original image isn't actually applied to it. with picasa, you should make all the desired changes, before saving a copy. that way, you lose out minimal detail. and even then, the original file remains untouched. but if you keep on making changes to the derivatives, that's when you start losing out on detail, due to the compression algorithm.

hope that makes sense. bila dah start baca buku ni, baru la faham lossy vs lossless formats.

It was back in july, if i was not mistaken,
I received a call from aidil aka ajisz akhlaken,

he asked me for a favour and yet a frenzy favour I thot;
couldnt be surprise more when i realised it was not!!

He wanted Suhaimi Sulaiman for his upcoming wedding.
Wohoo... mr potato (toy story) at last is going to get married! and that's really sumthing..

and finally it was fullfilled after weeks of hari raya
and i was honoured to be invited at his reception at Dewan bunga raya... (Dewan SUK, Selangor)

- and to honour this one man who used to be a sprinter in MCKK.. some captures of the day.
but i hv to leave the rest of the pictures to the official photographers (mr saifulnang & mr albad) to publish at their respective sites..
in fact i was more fancied to capture others....

takpe, moque. we all have to start somewhere. keep up the good effort! Wed 7-Dec-2005 16:35
