beijing part 3

panda rock!
made our way to Badaling
a glimpse of the great..

It has been 3 days and we have acclimatized well with the weather.
The plan was to go outskirt Beijing, traveled north; one and half hour away to Badaling.
Our destination --- The Great Wall.
Yes, the one of the seven wonders.....

Being there yourself, watching with your naked eyes and climbing the steps whilst catching the last breath, was really a thrilling experience. felt like riding a long mighty dragon …
(a 6000km dragon!)
Couldn’t manage myself to cover all but at least I was 900m on sea level. Ok le tuh!

I just can’t imagine how the wall was built at first.
How many have fall then in order to let us walk and value it later…
Did it stand as a symbol of emperor’s supremacy?
or was it just a sheer defence wall to protect the Hans and its empire?!
Were those men sacrifices worthy? ……

In the end we have to make our way back.. but we were made to leave with heavy hearts
and I promised myself to come again.. this time maybe with some answers.

Next stop were Ming Tombs and Summer Palace. Those places were breathtaking and I could not stop myself capturing the beautiful scenes with my Nikon.. sedar-sedar 3 roll films dah habis, beb!

Beijing was really hot and dry. yes it's summer!
to stay direct in the heat without any sweat, that was very unpleasant. (for me lah!)
even worse, every places we visited were mighty huge.
it took us almost 2 hours to cover forbidden city. Another one and the half to cover 'hutong" or the old alley and we gave up on beihai park coz it could take us forever!
so we decided to go on boat at beihai park and enjoyed the scenery from the huge lake, instead..

After a long-lasting outings. Good meal was what we really need! To my surprise, Peking Duck was really appetizing, and i never thought we hv to eat it in kulit popia!!.. my my..yummy!

Ni hao!
yuP! that's hello in Chinese (mandarin). I was on break again!
This time it's Beijing, the next Olympics city. The trip was really a memorable; and i was heavily prepared due to some reasons. 1st - my first trip abroad after last year euro portugal and 2nd - my family was totally relying on me as their tour guido, ohh no!
so i hv to prepare well in order not to be embarrassed later
hence, me and my beloved made a trip to berjaya times searching for a good travel book.
Thought of getting a 'lonely planet' but i found the book was too comprehensive and too b&w for a funky tourist like me!
Managed to buy a book titled ' Travel Pack to Beijing - 2 in 1 ' published by Periplus.
A very handy/colourful book that comes with a map of beijing.. cool
it also covers planning ahead, Beijing bests and top sights. Worth my penny, i guess..
so off me go to Beijing with knowledge in hand...
and our first arrive were the great forbidden city and the famous tiananmen sq..

should consider this entry as my first attempt with mono..
have only my conscience and instinct to begin with.. a sheer gamble, after all
the effort may not be realised without peers and their good compositions,
credit to them..

sorry for some scratches mishandling during prints processing, i guess.
and my god! i could not believe b&w prints cost me a lot more!!

i believe my dad hv made a bold step in introducing his first 'cucu' to the world!
we were in cameron highlands recently and the "young padawan" was also there for his day out. the furthest he hv gone was kuala kangsar.. but the trip to cameron highlands from penang via simpang pulai route was hell of a trip for a 4 months old baby! pity, pity him

but in the end it was really a great trip with good strawberries and tomatoes... and little kamil also knew how to pose well too.. cayaLah!
