a malay tradition preserved - berendoi
|

Berendoi is part of malay tradition in welcoming newborn baby. It is widely perfomed in most of Malay states especially in Perlis, Kedah and Perak. It is part of saying thank you and being grateful to God for the blessing and hapiness. It also symbolised oneself preparation of familyhood.
I had my share of berendoi when my parents both were in Selama, Perak. In welcoming me (back in 79), the whole kampung had organised one majlis berendoi. That was quite an occasion to remember, but thru the pictures and mom's storytelling, i could also feel such a joyful mood.
and thankfully those mood is reminisced when my newborn newphew had his share of berendoi. Coincide with majlis aqiqah, the berendoi session started with selections of Al Quran recitation by woman singers who called themselves "bardah" group. They will recite story in the Quran that depict advices to the newborn. This also includes praise to God and the prophet Muhammad PBUH.
I could only think of one thing, this malay tradition represent hope. The hope of everybody that one day the newborn will turn good and be successful in his life. god's will.

Which.. should be the one?

Capturing digital images had become increasingly demanding these days.
We were introduced with another process called post-editing; it should have paved the way for better pictures but instead it has created more options in expressing our favourite pictures.
at times, i kind of facing this problem of making choices. Eventhough, as the wise man saying.. "picture is one man/woman's expression" but when we have so many options to choose upon we end up confused!!!.. 
in life we were also making choices in order to survive. Whether we choose to become the prey or we choose to be the play master.. only us could decide for ourselves...
but how to correlate between choices in life with choices in photography?!! now, that's really confused me.... 
whether vibrant or mono...
whether plain color or artsy hdr...
whether bright or dull...
you..  tell me!!

night at the safari

yup, did spend my nite at the safari.
not quite outstanding pictures after all.
I have to rely on my fast lens (50mm) rather my VR 
my ISO rather high (set @ 800)
most of my gambars were capture on mobile i.e hopping on night train..
this is my first take and i should put extra effort in near future.
Apepun just enjoice. 
btw,
had kuey teow doli earlier. that place served the best kuey teow in town (Taiping).
ini grade A punya!!!

Syawal yang menjelma 2
|
|
kemeriahan Syawal masih lagi terasa
walaupun lebih dua minggu ianya bermula
merdu lagu aidilfitri masih mengisi pilihan tetuang udara
dan anak muda masih bergembira bersahut sahutan dalam suasana berhari raya
syahdu dan pilu mengenangkan yang pergi bersilih ganti tandanya hati telahpun redha
buat yg pergi selamanya, hanya sekirim doa
buat yang pergi sementara
ibubapa di desa tersenyum gembira
dapat bertemu anakcucu bersua muka, bangga! ceria!
inilah yang dikatakan nikmat kurniaan tuhan rab-bi;
kemakmuran dan kesejahteraan pertiwi tercinta
ku menadah tangan tanda bersyukur;
semoga Syawal menjelma lagi membawa sejuta harapan dan seribu makna...
leman... si penunggu setia
tiap kali syawal menjelma
pasti dia muncul akhirnya
datangnya bukan menjaja meminta
mengerah keringat kuat bekerja
buat sesuap nasi dan setahil gula
namun dia tetap gembira
syawal ini masih demikian rupa
penunggu setia hingga penghujung acara
sarap dibersih di seluruh meja
bertemankan penyapu sebatang kara
sedikitpun tak hindar buruknya cuaca
namun dia tetap gembira
syawal ini dia lebih ceria
kerna ayahku mengotakan janji setia
hadiahkan untuknya si basikal tua; sebagai teman berguna di hari muka
dan ku bersyukur pada yang Esa atas rahmatNya
walaupun hanya pedati tua buat penyambung nyawa
namun dia tetap tersenyum gembira

hari raya came along in a blissful way. alhamdulillah.
it let us reflect and rediscover ourselves in a very truly manner.
fitri or fitrah is about returning to the fundamental teachings of Islam.
to purify one soul after days of doing the unnecessary and wrongdoings.
eidul fitri is an opening by Almighty for us to seek forgiveness from Him
and for us to spread the spirit of forgiveness amongst mankind...

An HDR effort?! -----> sila tunjuk ajarku sifu.

actually this kind of funny though.
I took a few snaps on a ferry trip to penang the other day.
kind of testing out my new gear, ler.. hehe.
end up I accidentally (well, my kind of photoshooting always 'accident' mode! ) took one photo which i consider worth for HDR editing..
after few consultation w my dear friend kich and to my inexperienced, we decided to give it a go..
I send him my picture copy to let him play and tweak. am still waiting for his result.
from my understanding you at least need 3 captures w 2 captures under and over expose. -- that's what kich been explaining to me..
hmm.. "susah jugak noo...", I can only gesture.
and guess what,
while going thru my sets of merdeka collections
my hand simply 'gatal' and tweaked that picture along..
to my surprise.. i managed my version of HDR by accident 
eureka! eureka eureka!!

p/s: kich bro, sorry la takleh tahan waiting for your version.. i came up w mine first ye!
my sets of merdeka hv to give way to my accident invention! ha ha ha..
and pls find that this is simply tweaking using CS2 command
Image ---> Adjustment ----> Shadow/Highlight w some curves adjustment.
Not worth an HDR yet.. but at least worth for me 
so how?!
an extra framing.. an extra touch!
